Every Day is Earth Day!

Earth Day may be over, but our JV/AmeriCorps members live out ecological justice
every day. Read how Anna Osborn (Hillsboro, OR '12-13, Hood River, OR '13-'14)
is making a green impact in and around the Columbia Gorge community in the latest

Who would you suggest?

Thank you to everyone who's encouraged applicants to apply to JVC Northwest- we've
received hundreds of applications for the upcoming 2014-15 service year! But we
still need your help- there are a few positions we have yet to fill, which require
specific backgrounds or degrees. We're looking for applicants who have any of the
following:


* A nursing degree: someone to provide outreach and direct care in a community
health setting
* Education background: someone with an education degree/certification, or relevant
teaching experience, to teach or tutor grade school students in a rural community
* A desire to teach catechism: someone with knowledge and experience with teaching
and religious studies, to create curriculum and teach grade school catechism in
a rural community

Know someone who might be a great fit for one of these positions and has a desire
for a year of values-centered service? Please encourage them to apply! Support from
former JVs and friends of JVC Northwest is a significant reason applicants apply-

Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC) is recruiting for its 2014-2015 year of service

IVC in New England is modeled after JVC but is targeted towards men and women 50
years of age and older. IVC New England volunteers give two days per week of service
to non-profits in Boston, Worcester, Providence and surrounding communities. Volunteers
meet monthly for spiritual reflection. Please spread the word to anyone who might
be interested in becoming an Ignatian Volunteer or to non-profit agencies who might

Call to Action: Young Adult Faith-Sharing Retreat

July 11-13, Walker Center, Boston, MA

This summer, CTA 20/30 is hosting a retreat for people in their 20s and 30s. The
workshop/retreat will equip participants with skills to start or re-energize small
faith-sharing groups in their communities. The weekend will offer skill-building
in how to start and lead informal faith-sharing groups, and will also simply offer
an opportunity for spiritual reflection and community-building with other young
progressive Catholics. Catholics on Call: 2014 Young Adult Summer Conference

August 5 - 9, Catholic Theological Union, Hyde Park neighborhood, Chicago

Catholics on Call invites young people, ages 18-30, who are considering a life of
service in the Church to join them for their 2014 young adult summer conference.
Participants will have the opportunity to connect and pray with other like-minded
young adults, to hear nationally-known speakers, discuss how to listen to God's
call, and to learn valuable skills that will help them to discern their vocation,
whether it be to priesthood, religious life or lay ecclesial ministry. Registration

Catholic Volunteer Network - Discernment Retreats

August 15-17th, Camp Maria Retreat Center, Leonardtown, MD

If you've recently done a year of service, how will you continue to live out the
values that were so much a part of your service year? How will those values shape
what's next for you? Catholic Volunteer Network, in partnership with Notre Dame
Mission Volunteers, is offering a weekend retreat that provides space to discern
how you can foster these values and live out your passion, and the possibility
of religious life as a way to do so. The weekend will provide a balance of reflection
on your volunteer service, input on the skills of discernment, quiet time for reflection,
