I hope that you had a great break and a very Happy New Year! And I hope the
semester is off to a good start!

I want to bring to your attention two items:

*First*, a reminder that the next MSFS Faculty Meeting will take place on
Tuesday, February 12th at 12:15 in the 7th Floor Executive Conference Room.
The main item of business will be the Report of the External Reviewers. An
RSVP link will be forthcoming, and we will provide a detailed agenda with
documents attached. Lunch with be served.

*Second, *as you know, Ross Harrison will be stepping down as MSFS
Concentration Chair for International Business effective July 1. Again, we
want to thank Ross for his great service and wish him the very best for the
next phase of his career!

Earlier this month, the Dean constituted a search committee, consisting of
Bob Cumby, Mark Lagon, and yours truly as chair. The job announcement was
officially posted yesterday, and we are now engaging in an effort to find
the right person for the position. This is a very critical hire for MSFS,
and we need to recruit an outstanding professional to lead
the Concentration.

I am pasting in the job advertisement below. Please feel free to circulate
this ad as widely as possible and let me know if you have any ideas about

*Professor in the Practice of International Affairs and Concentration Chair
for International Business, Master of Science in Foreign Service Program

The Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University
invites applications for a three-year, renewable, non-tenure-track position
as a Professor in the Practice of International Affairs
and Concentration Chair for International Business beginning in August
2013. This position will have teaching and administrative responsibilities
in the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) Program.
The Concentration Chair will have an academic background in the field of
international business, broadly defined, and will teach three
semester-length courses per academic year in his/her area of
specialization. Ideally, the Chair will teach one section of MSFS 515,
Foundations of Corporate Finance, a required course for students in
the concentration. The Chair is responsible for strategic planning and
development for the concentration and for assisting with the selection,
recruitment, and preparation of faculty for the concentration. The Chair
serves as an academic and career advisor to students in the concentration.
The Chair also serves as a member of the senior academic team for the MSFS
Program. The successful candidate will have a record of professional
experience in international business, in the private or non-profit sector,
or in public institutions involving a business, finance, or trade component.
