<p>The Official U.S. Navy App received a significant update over the weekend that adds the ability to push notifications to users and adds a new feature called “My News Locker.”</p>

<p>The “My News Locker” feature allows users to save photo, video and story content into a custom “locker” to review later or collect content on specific events for future reference on or offline.</p>

<p>The “Push Notifications” feature automatically sends alerts when breaking news is posted to Navy.mil. This feature also provides another venue to alert users of important leadership messages directly to the Sailor or family member’s smartphone or tablet, e.g. “TA reinstated at 100% in FY15,” or “Chief results are out!”</p>

<p>Improvements have also been made to the operation of the map, calendar and photo gallery design, along with various bug fixes and performance upgrades.</p>
