Sponsor An Animal...Save a Life...

Our HT animal sponsor program features just a few of the hundreds of animals HomewardTrails
is asked to rescue each week.

Sponsor animals like Fluffy and Pound Puppy

Space and

money are our greatest barriers to saying yes to each request.

As a supporter of HT, you can help a great deal by making a donation [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001uMG2qG2hhxTdFViLt5JVC3DbHP408Qyc_m0TJ2S6A1fYcW9VV14qdUA3JWqg6b558OQecchj0gTa5YD1_ftK8fVX_XaD6ajh2QT5D-jUH_s2ZDqhD_u7pbkRBNDFXjTZJJd5sGyA0EBtsJDnNBxPyI9lj4-yx-FW9fk1DtXGERVcY8bIzT65KdxyDoS2aMhzaOCZmOwLN8h4eXilDZIMJTk0l6Rt-AXASwWjaqQXEP6ch6cuTuXSvxSUYZjTC3ZC&c=RXz3fpIi31ti-y12vFdpWS43xWAyHryiJ4Dd3HHcXbtIoPI3OVz5dg==&ch=srUOS6zQKkDv5wU_beqEAYRJjwFgKas2aWRX0gvyJep150cz_ZfiIQ==]
to offset the costs to rescue one of these animals.

On average, it costs approximately $150 to rescue each dog and $100 to rescue each
cat. This includes basic vet care provided by the shelters, fuel for transport,
staff time, additional vaccines and housing once they arrive at HT.

We are now offering our wonderful family of HT supporters the opportunity to donate
[http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001uMG2qG2hhxTdFViLt5JVC3DbHP408Qyc_m0TJ2S6A1fYcW9VV14qdUA3JWqg6b55Q6ZmWr4EpCJFn_hGfz10X6Qtj3_xivuBzlgQLm0U2YwABanuizNBno_g3dqaCgm5dBHasjtW4qSLLJruRtNRAPA2YGBl4IEGiPpzhPa6c3-0h7shBAFxA5xvhu09ycqI-BTN5np-c2ZymAMaANL1aaMWDkk9jDRb2SJTMxwOtR6pd5OlhfrNuMhBVSyyrjfb&c=RXz3fpIi31ti-y12vFdpWS43xWAyHryiJ4Dd3HHcXbtIoPI3OVz5dg==&ch=srUOS6zQKkDv5wU_beqEAYRJjwFgKas2aWRX0gvyJep150cz_ZfiIQ==]to
a specific animal and help us bring him/her to safety before time runs out.

Every donation saves the life of a specific animal ... and any donations greater
than the amount needed will be applied to others in need.

Please, consider a tax-deductible donation today to help these animals. They deserve
a 2nd chance at life. And together, we can give them that.

Featured Cats
Marshall

Marshall is a young, playful all-white kitty with a very cool demeanor. He has
an easy going personality, is very gentle, and gets along with everyone - especially
other cats and dogs.

He's a very confident kitty. He's still learning what home life is, and while his
inquisitiveness may land him in places he shouldn't be sometimes, he's not destructive
and doesn't have a mean bone in his body.

Marshall would be a great fit for a home with children and other pets that can
spend time playing with him. And while "cuddling"; is still a new concept, he's
quickly learning how great affection can be.

Adopt Marshall... Featured Dog
MooMoo

MooMoo is a stunning young lady! She and her 8 puppies were given up by their owner
because he couldn't take proper care of them. Moo Moo developed an infection from
nursing the puppies, so she had to be separated from them a little early so she
could get proper care. Her beautiful pups are now all happily chowing down on
puppy food and doing great!

But now that this beautiful, sweet girl is doing better, she needs a forever home
of her very own! MooMoo is a 3 years old, 40 lb Catahoula mix. Won't you give her
the love and care she has been missing?

Dove Needs Medical Care
Dove, a sweet and petite adult cat, came to Homeward Trails from the streets of
Baltimore where she had been abandoned and left to fend for herself. She was in
rough shape when she came to HT weighing only 4.5 lbs.

Unfortunately Dove appears to have problems with her vision and hips (possible
neurological issues as well) and x-rays and a full diagnostic work up are needed
to help us identify what's going on.

Meet three-legged Elizabeth! She was found wandering out in the countryside in
the cold. This poor sweet girl has only three legs and was having a lot of trouble

Once rescued and safe with HT, it was discovered that she has badly rotting teeth

January Volunteer Awards
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Biscuit Award
Amanda Murray
This month's Biscuit Award goes to Amanda Murray. Amanda is a regular transport
driver for Homeward Trails and literally helps save lives every week by making
the trek 2 or 4 hours to meet shelter transports and bring dogs to HT safely.
She's always so positive and helpful with making the dogs comfortable on the trip
and helping to get them settled with us once they arrive. We are so grateful
for our transport drivers like Amanda! Thank you!

CatNip Award
Meg Watson
The January CatNip Award goes to Meg Watson. Meg is an awesome foster that has
taken on some of our sickest cats and kittens and given them top notch often round
the clock care. Meg has brought her skills as a nurse to foster care and we are
beyond lucky to have her. She has forged a fantastic relation ship with our Bowie
vet partner which has resulted in incredible care for our sick babies without
breaking the bank for HT. We could not take care of so many special needs kitties
without her dedication and skills. Thank you Meg!

Tail Waggin' Award
The Hettinger Family

The Tail-Waggin' award goes to the Hettinger Family. Betty, Wayne and Sara regularly
help out the HT Adoption Center and have offered to be in charge of collecting cat
and dog donations from our bin at Weber's Pet Supermarket in Chantilly, VA. Betty
and Sara help care for the dogs, volunteer at adoption events and are always willing
to lend a hand with our cleaning, organizing and laundry needs at the Center. Wayne
has become our volunteer handyman fixing the fence, cleaning the dryer vent, building
gates to keep dogs from running down the hall and identifying and correcting many
maintenance needs. Thank you Hettinger family for all you do for HT!

Animal Supply Needs
Can You Help?

Ever year, HT spends thousands and thousands of dollars on items in order to keep
our animals fed, safe, clean and to keep operations going!
You can help us minimize these costs and put more funds towards our animals directly
by donating the below items.
Right now we are in desperate need of Virkon disinfectant for cleaning at the Adoption
Center, Kitty City and in our transport van. This is essential for the health and
safety of of animals to control the spread of disease and it is important that we
have this specific type of cleaner because of its effectiveness against parvovirus.
It may seem expensive at $75 a container but it is much cheaper than vet visits
for a lot of sick animals and if we can collect just 6 containers we will be set
for the rest of the year! This can be bought through our Amazon link.
A few other things we can use right now include

* Postage stamps
* Gas cards
* Laundry soap
* Dish soap
* Paper towels

Can you help us take some of these expense items out of the budget so we have more
money to spend on things we can;t get donated like many medications and vet care?
Items can be mailed, dropped off at the Adoption Center or Dog Paws or purchased
from our Amazon.com wishlist [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001uMG2qG2hhxTdFViLt5JVC3DbHP408Qyc_m0TJ2S6A1fYcW9VV14qdUq5iJ63qwC_zJcQbFVNlba2o-pMkPdGyf3kE9J_2OVMRVnw0dkvtBoIg4w_eFWsWsA4NROUPCOV-H4uda_DbiyjaSWDJSRDM_eOfAZivUI9dsuvgpE99rFPyDemikoTJQ==&c=RXz3fpIi31ti-y12vFdpWS43xWAyHryiJ4Dd3HHcXbtIoPI3OVz5dg==&ch=srUOS6zQKkDv5wU_beqEAYRJjwFgKas2aWRX0gvyJep150cz_ZfiIQ==]
and they will be shipped directly to us.
