Yesterday, I voted against the GOP-backed legislation but there is still more work to be done. The Tea Party refuses to work towards a compromise – they are endangering our safety by defunding Homeland Security in an effort to override President Obama’s executive orders on immigration.

For many families, President Obama’s executive orders on immigration were first steps to saving lives, keeping families together, and reaffirming that the United States thrives as a nation of immigrants. We can’t let the GOP take us backwards when we’re making progress.
