Vice President and Dr. Biden,

Good afternoon. Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research, located in Newark, DE, the pre-eminent native wild bird rehabilitator and oil spill responder for affected wildlife, is dedicating its brand new Wildlife Response Annex on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm here in Newark. I respectfully ask you both to attend this ribbon-cutting and dedication and offer some brief remarks to show your support of our ongoing mission to save birds’ lives. Since 1976, Tri-State has worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured, orphaned, and oiled native wild birds from Delaware and the surrounding states, including 40-50 bald eagles annually, the symbol of this great country. We were the lead responder for affected wildlife during the Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

The Wildlife Response Annex is a one-of-a-kind response facility; there is literally nothing like it in the entire U.S.! Tri-State will be able to more efficiently care for, wash, and rehabilitate oiled wildlife, quarantine diseased patients, and provide a training center for our industry, government, and community partners. Even though the facility is located in Newark, it will have a national impact on providing the expertise and dedication necessary for avian patients from around the country. I feel that these facts merit your positive consideration to be involved in this expansion event right here in Delaware!

Please let me know if you are able to block out your schedules and join us for this prestigious occasion. A return to your native state for this significant dedication would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from your office soon. Have a great day.
