Dear Chairman's Council Members, *I hope you are doing well and your new year is off to a great start. We've developed a number of events for 2018, which are listed below. - Approximately five individuals will participate on a trip to Kosovo and Albania, March 18-23. The trip will include participation in NDI's annual Week of Women conference; a forum for women politicians, civic activists and entrepreneurs. In addition, there will be a focus on NDI's work with youth activists and young politicians and activists engaged in political reform and advancing government transparency and accountability. - NDI is planning a women’s trip, specifically for college-age women and beyond (a great opportunity for mothers and daughters as well), to Haiti (Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien), June 19-22. The trip will focus on NDI’s work encouraging increased political participation of youth and women, and reducing violence against women in politics. We will also discuss the impact of 2010 earthquake and hear reports from civil society activists and the business sector. We will tour the National Museum, the Citadelle Laferrière, and other cultural landmarks. - On May 9, NDI will hold the Stop Violence Against Women in Politics Forum, 8:30-11:30 am, at George Washington University, followed by the Madeleine Albright Luncheon, Noon-2:00 pm, at the Four Seasons. Both events will highlight the problem of violence against women in politics; NDI’s #NotTheCost initiative to counter such violence; and solutions to advance security for women. We will be joined by approximately 25 international women leaders who have experienced violence and who are piloting the reporting of such incidents to raise awareness and build the case for global action. - And, for advance planning, our 35th Anniversary Gala will be held December 6th in Washington, DC. Please let me know if you have any questions or want to discuss further. Thanks for your continued support and participation. All the best,James* *James van der Klok* National Democratic Institute for International Affairs 455 Massachusetts Ave, NW, 8th Floor Washington DC 20001 Office: 202.728.5516 <(202)%20728-5516> */ *Mobile: 202.256.2079 <(202)%20256-2079> james@ndi.org <jvanderklok@ndi.org> * *@NDI <https://twitter.com/ndi
