[image: CCNY Partner Logos.JPG] *Discussion on Citizen Inclusion and Confidence Indicators – Global Launch* * Friday, December 7, 2018* *10:00 a.m - 1:00 p.m.* *National Democratic Institute* *455 Massachusetts Ave, NW, Washington, DC * *8th Floor Board Room* *Light refreshments will be served* The Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and the Oslo Center would like to invite you to a global report launch and a round table discussion to share the recently developed set of community-level indicators which measure citizens’ sense of inclusion and confidence in transitional processes. Post-conflict transition periods offer a brief but critical opportunity to build the legitimacy of emerging democratic systems and establish a foundation for inclusive political processes and institutions. Indicators of inclusion are vital, as policy makers can identify more precisely how to create inclusionary processes and policies, but there are still significant gaps in national and international policymakers’ understanding of citizen priorities around inclusion. The Citizen Inclusion and Confidence (CIC) indicators were developed based on group consultations in various regions of Kenya and South Sudan and verified using quantitative survey feedback on the draft indicators in these same regions. The indicators were derived using a bottom-up method of qualitative induction, through which clusters of statements were grouped and categories post-capture into categories and concepts. The CIC indicators were then developed based on these categories with the assistance of the transcripts. The meeting will introduce the research approach, highlight the findings, share the indicators and discuss the research’s implication in political transitions, particularly in Kenya and South Sudan where the research was piloted. Through this meeting, we seek to have an improved bank of knowledge regarding citizen priorities, needs, and expectations around transitional processes. *Please RSVP online by Wednesday, December 5th * *RSVP <https://goo.gl/forms/xlAJYwY4PTBPtXRG3>**: **https://goo.gl/forms/xlAJYwY4PTBPtXRG3 <https://goo.gl/forms/xlAJYwY4PTBPtXRG3>
