If you missed it, no worries! Come to Sr Celebration planning tomorrow and there’s more…keep scrolling! *1. Senior Celebration Planning Meeting: Calling all Senior Parents! TOMORROW!* Monday, December 3 at 7:00 pm, US Choral Room Please join our Senior Celebration leadership team for the first, fun, kick-off event. Senior Celebration is an evening for seniors, put on by and featuring parents including a reception followed by a delightful and maybe embarrassing variety show by the parents. Traditionally, at some point, *all the parents take the stage**! Note: We keep all details of the senior celebration secret from our seniors! * It's up to us to plan this beloved evening for parents and seniors. There are opportunities to participate from planning the invitations to organizing the food and decorations to creating elements of the show itself. *All skill sets are needed,* and we need many captains! Don't miss the opportunity to help make this an awesome, fun and memorable celebration for the class of 2019! Senior Celebration itself is Saturday, June 1, from 6–9 p.m., at the Kogod Arts Center. We hope you will consider giving this most important gift and as you feel it appropriate, encouraging your children who are age 17 or older to donate. If you can’t give blood, you could sign up to bring a treat <https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0f4fa4ae2da20-supporting> to thank those who can. 3. *JED Foundation – Mental Health Awareness Talk -* *December 7* Friday, December 7 at 8:00 am in the Chorus Room The Upper School PA Parenting & Peer Group Committee invites parents to join us this Friday, December 7, at 8:00 a.m. in the Chorus Room to hear from the JED Foundation (www.jedfoundation.org ), a national nonprofit that exists to protect emotional health and prevent suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults. JED Foundation partners with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance abuse and suicide prevention programming and systems, and they equip teens and young adults with the skills and support to grow into healthy, thriving adults. They will be speaking to students during Mental Health Awareness Week. Topics will include: · Recognizing and Responding to distress in young people · Managing changing relationships with family and friends · Understanding privacy laws for students 18+; how to gain access to information about a student's mental and physical health · Protecting emotional health during the transition · Knowing when to seek help for yourself, and how to help a friend in need · How to navigate student affairs, campus life, and healthcare/counseling resources on campus Questions? Email us at parents@sidwell.edu 4.* Student Led Toy Drive for FAPAC & Rosemount Center* – *Ends December 10* Please support the fourth annual US Community Action Club toy drive supporting the Foster & Adoptive Parent Advocacy Center (FAPAC) and Rosemount Center. They have boxes for toys in the Upper School and you may also order directly off the links set up by each organization below. Toys will be picked up by our partners on Monday December 10. FAPAC works with children of all ages. Books, dolls, toy trucks, and craft sets are all welcome!
