R.Hunter, Yesterday afternoon, on the eve of Veterans Day, the Senate broke through its usual partisan logjam and voted overwhelmingly in favor of the VOW to Hire Heroes Act. It is now up to the House to move quickly to pass this important bill and send it to President Obama without delay. I am so grateful for the strong grassroots support that our bill received from supporters in Delaware and across the country. I can tell you that it made a difference. Nearly a quarter-million veterans are unemployed. That is completely unacceptable, especially considering the sacrifice these heroes have made for our country, which is why I cosponsored the legislation and argued on the floor for its passage. It was crucial that we acted, and I am glad my Senate colleagues agreed. This Veterans Day, I hope you'll join me in offering our heartfelt thanks to all of the brave men and women in uniform -- and their families -- who have sacrificed so much to protect our country. We are forever indebted to them for their service. Thank you, Chris Coons U.S. Senator On November 9, 2011, Chris Coons wrote: Friend, If there was ever a jobs bill that ought to earn bipartisan support, this is it. When the brave men and women who fight for our nation return home, they shouldn't have to fight to find work. But too often, that's what's happening today. The VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 will help to fix that by creating promising employment opportunities for our veterans -- and that's why I'm so proud to be an original cosponsor. Our bill is coming up for a vote in the Senate tomorrow, and I need your help to make sure that unlike other recent job-creating legislation, this passes. Help me show strong grassroots support for this veterans jobs bill before it comes up for a Senate vote tomorrow: Click below to sign my petition now: http://action.chriscoons.com/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=286&tag=111111email Democrats in Congress have proposed bill after bill to get Americans working again, common-sense legislation that easily would have passed with bipartisan support in the past. Time and again, a determined minority in the Senate has stood in the way. Last month, they sank a bill to put hundreds of thousands of teachers and first responders back to work, and last week, they blocked legislation to rebuild our nation's crumbling roads, bridges, and tunnels, which would have created job opportunities for hundreds of thousands of out-of-work Americans. Tomorrow, my colleagues have another opportunity to do the right thing by helping put some of the most selfless Americans back to work. Help me ensure that this bill -- a bill that includes ideas from both sides of the aisle -- passes the Senate. Please join me in urging my Senate colleagues to vote "Aye" on the veterans jobs bill tomorrow: Sign my petition now: http://action.chriscoons.com/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=286&tag=111111email Friday is Veterans Day, a day we set aside every year to honor those who have sacrificed so much to protect our country. With your help, we can honor our veterans by breaking through this partisan logjam and making real progress to fix our nation's jobs crisis. Thank you for your help.
