Michael Avenatti announced on Tuesday that he will not run for president in 2020, saying his family has requested that he not mount a campaign and warning that the Democratic Party must put up an aggressive candidate against Donald Trump.

"I do not make this decision lightly - I make it out of respect for my family. But for their concerns, I would run," Avenatti said in a statement.
