Patty and I traded emails with him last week. I think the first thing he wants to do with us is host two dinners to discuss child sexual abuse and ways we can strengthen laws around the country. Specifically, he's interested in the statute of limitations.
The idea would be to do two dinners, about 3 weeks apart (his network of high net worth folks). First dinner would feature a speaker from the policy side, and both Garrett and Patty have ideas on who would be a good fit. The second dinner would feature a legislator or lobbyist or someone from the advocacy side of things to discuss how we can change laws. Again, we all have ideas on who that speaker could be.
Garrett wants to charge $ for the dinner series, and split the proceeds between his foundation and the BBF.
I think the best way Garrett and the BBF can work together is in the advocacy pillar of our mission. It's something his board wants to focus on, and could give us some immediate successes in DE (where we have a few things we want to work on) and PA (where the stat. lims will be raised again in the next legislative session).
