<p style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">I’m writing to let you know about the upcoming interest meeting for the <em><a href="http://webapps.pcrsoft.com/Campus/Common/Service.aspx?notId=414278&scn=Sidwell&linkId=1836" style="color: #954f72;"><span style="color: windowtext;">China Fieldwork Semester</span></a></em>(CFS), which will be held 7:00pm Monday, December 5, in room 104-106. CFS 2018 will be the fifth year of this remarkable study away opportunity sponsored by Sidwell Friends School. CFS is an experiential, interdisciplinary, hands-on research program in Northwest Yunnan Province, a place with tremendous cultural and biodiversity. It is open to <em>all</em> 11<sup>th</sup> and 12<sup>th</sup> grade students each spring; there is no Chinese language pre-requisite. Students earn course credits in history, literature, environmental science, and Chinese, and they continue their math course with the support of a tutor in China. Students can also take AP exams while in China, and they return in mid-May, before prom and other pre-graduation activities. We want this unique program to be open to all students, so <strong><em>SFS tuition and financial aid apply to all program costs</em></strong>.</p>

<p style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Calibri, sans-serif;">CFS has been a truly transformative experience for all the students who have participated over the last four years. The program has received wide praise from China scholars, and recognition for its groundbreaking innovative approach from experts in global and experiential education. CFS attracts students from other schools (including Dalton in New York, Punahou and ‘Iolani in Hawaii, and Shipley and Germantown Friends in Philadelphia) but we want to make sure that families within our own Sidwell Friends community are aware of this very special opportunity.</p>
