SUBJECT: Oklahoma Primary Results

Last night, former state senator Scott Pruitt (R) defeated former
legislative assistant Ryan Leonard in the Republican primary for attorney
general. Pruitt captured 56% of the vote to Leonard’s 44%

Democratic nominee Jim Priest (D) ran unopposed in yesterday’s primary and
is currently gearing up for the fall election against Pruitt.

Jim Priest has pledged to focus on protection of citizens, especially the
most vulnerable: children and seniors. He hopes to focus on not only
prosecution, but also creating new methods of prevention in these areas. To

In the night's most closely watched contest, Lt. Gov. Jari Askins (D)
narrowly defeated veteran Attorney General Drew Edmondson (D) in an
extremely tight Democratic gubernatorial primary. Askins goes on to face
Representative Mary Fallin (R) in November ensuring Oklahoma will elect its
first ever female governor.
