I never planned my career knowing that I'd someday run for Congress. Like most of you reading this email, I'm not a political insider -- and running for federal office has been a real eye opener when it comes to the subject of money in politics.
Since the Citizens United decision, money in politics has become an enormous problem in our country. It's regularly reported that Members of Congress routinely spend 6-8 hours a day on the phone raising money -- and that includes my opponent Rep. Karen Handel.
Is it any wonder that Congress has a 16% approval rating when they spend more time calling big money donors than writing new policy?

We're running this campaign a different way. I've been endorsed by End Citizens United, the foremost advocacy group working to get money out of politics. I've signed a pledge to take no corporate PAC money, so our campaign won't be beholden to big businesses nor special interests.

While I still have to spend a good deal of time on the phone, (that's the reality of campaigning in 2018!) our whole team has been supplementing those efforts with a massive online grassroots fundraising operation over email and social media.
That strategy of asking grassroots donors for help -- and not corporations and special interests -- has allowed me to spend more time on the campaign trail having conversations with voters here in the 6th District.
