Polls have closed in Ohio's 12th Congressional District, the final special election battle before the 2018 midterms and the first of five states with elections Tuesday.

In Ohio, Republican Troy Balderson and Democrat Danny O'Connor are competing to succeed ex-Rep. Pat Tiberi, a Republican who resigned earlier this year.

Follow the results here as the votes from Ohio come in.

Also follow results from Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington's primaries. Polls in Missouri and the first polls in Kansas and Michigan close at 8 p.m. Eastern. Washington's polls close at 11 p.m. Eastern.
