Friends, Over the last decade, the United States has made incredible progress to advance LGBTQ equality. But far too many LGBTQ people--especially youth--still face rejection at home and discrimination in their communities. Family and community rejection can lead to heartbreaking outcomes: LGBTQ young people are disproportionately more likely to experience homelessness, suffer from depression, and experience suicidal ideation. When it comes to changing the culture from one of rejection to one of acceptance, personal stories are often our most powerful tool. That's why we've launched As You Are: A Family and Community Acceptance Campaign. We're inviting LGBTQ young people, parents, siblings, educators, social service providers--anyone with a connection to the importance of family acceptance or the devastating harms of rejection--to share their stories with us. Just go to our website: https://go.bidenfoundation.org/AsYouAre You can also spread the message on social media. Invite your Facebook friends to share their experiences, or post to Twitter with the hashtag #AsYouAre. Stories have power. Together, with your help, we can change the culture to ensure a bright future for our nation's LGBTQ young people. --Emily Hecht-McGowan, Director for LGBTQ Equality Join the campaign: https://go.bidenfoundation.org/AsYouAre
