This week, Gov. Reynolds spoke from the Des Moines Register's Political Soapbox at the Iowa State Fair, and I have a little fact check for you, team:

CLAIM: Kim Reynolds claims to care about education.

REALITY: Gov. Reynolds' administration is underfunding education and has cut Regents funding to the point that the University of Iowa was forced to lay off over 30 employees and cut funding for services like workplace-related training, farm safety, and dentist recruitment just to make ends meet.

CLAIM: Kim Reynolds claims she's cutting taxes for the middle class.

REALITY: Gov. Reynolds' tax cuts primarily benefit the highest earners and corporations, and she's proven with her prioritization of wasteful corporate tax giveaways that she's more interested in helping corporations that don't need it than Iowa families.

CLAIM: Kim Reynolds claims she's fighting for affordable health care.

REALITY: Gov. Reynolds' Medicaid privatization scheme is putting thousands of Iowa's lives at risk, and she signed in to law a sham health policies that could deny coverage to applicants with pre-existing conditions.

I know we haven't had the chance to meet yet, but as the Research Director for the campaign it's my job to dig in to the facts -- and I'll tell you this much: Gov. Reynolds' doesn't seem too concerned with the facts. Her campaign would rather attack and cherry-pick than talk about her record of mismanagement and underfunding.
