Hi! We hope that you received the save the date card for our October 16 wedding. Here is some additional information about the weekend:

Transportation to Pinehurst Area

Raleigh/Durham Airport is the closest major airport. Pinehurst is an hour and twenty minute drive southwest of Raleigh/Durham Airport and an hour and a half drive south of Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro.

Wedding and Reception Location

The wedding and reception will be at Country Club of North Carolina, which is located at 1600 Morganton Road in Pinehurst.

Please ask for the McGrail/Strickland wedding rates when making reservations.

Pinehurst Resort – The Pinehurst Resort has eight golf courses, three hotels, a spa, three championship croquet courts, lawn bowling, tennis and numerous other sports and leisure facilities. In 1996 Pinehurst was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior. It was ranked as the world's largest golf resort by the Guinness World Records before being surpassed by Mission Hills Golf Club in China. The Carolina and The Holly Inn are both located in downtown Pinehurst, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, golf, tennis and parks. They are approximately 3.5 miles from the wedding and reception location.

Rehearsal Dinner

If you are able to make it to town on Friday, October 15, we would love to have you join us for dinner. We are still working out the details, but we plan to have a casual barbecue that will begin around 7:30 pm. We will send out more information about this event in a few months.

Babysitters/Activities for Children

Please let us know if you need a babysitter while you are in town. Caroline's mom can recommend local babysitters she knows and trusts. The Pinehurst Resort offers babysitting services for guests with some restrictions.

We will provide more information on the area when you get to town. A few people have asked about golf and other activities for planning purposes, so here is some basic information:

Saturday golf event:

The father of one of the bridesmaids is organizing a golf tournament for anyone who is interested in playing at LongleafGolf & Country Club on Saturday morning. We are still working out the details and will send out an evite and more information about the event (rental club availability, green fee, etc.) in a few months. We expect the green fee to be around $35 per person, which is a great rate for the area!

Pinehurst Resort Golf – Tee times may be reserved by calling 1-800-ITS-GOLF up to sixty days in advance for courses No.1 and Nos. 3-8. Course No. 2 may be reserved thirty days in advance.

Green Fees (range balls and golf cart are included):

--Courses No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5: $99 per person, per round.
--Course No. 2: $389 per person, per round. Home of the U.S. Open championships in 1999 and 2014. You will lose at least a dozen balls.
--Courses No. 4, No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8: $229 per person, per round.

Pinehurst offers rental golf clubs for $75/day. If you need to rent clubs, please let the pro shop know this when reserving your tee time.

--If you let us know in advance if you want to play golf at National, we might be able to get a reduced rate for you of $100 per round (weekday or weekend).
