My opinions without doing any real research:
They will need to become SEC registered.
It should help them both because there will be a bifurcation in the hedge fund industry where the well established and capitalized funds will be able to raise more assets due to their ability to build world class infrastructure which will become more important going forward. Institutions will demand it and they are the growth group for asset raising.
