I really even hesitated to raise it with you. I just told her that I would. I kind of feel that you should go with Neil. But maybe that is me just not wanting her to get her way. I know exactly what she said and she didn't talk to Dan directly just his assistant - she said, "Hunter is going to be up there and wanted to stop by and see Dan and catch up." And then I am sure she made some excuse as to why she wouldn't be there and said you would be coming alone. But I bet the assistant didn't relay all of that to Dan. Who knows? I actually raised the "should Anne Marie call and give them a heads up about Neil" before I had even talked to Arlene but I think that is a solution. Just have Anne Marie call in the morning and say "Hunter is going to have a partner with him and just wanted to give Dan and heads up and make sure that was OK." Your call - it really shouldn't be a big deal either way though. Eric D. Anyway might as well do it alone unless you think otherwise. It is clear she 1) wanted us to ask her advice on it first (a little understandable, but she would have said no or she would have said she wanted to be there) and 2) thinks that she should be in every meeting with you and the four fund clients and that if she isn't she has to explain to them why she wasn't there. She wants to be the point person on the relationship. She wouldn't even let Anne Marie call and make the appointment - finally, Dan's Assistant had to email her and ask if she could be put in contact with you assistant. It is all ridiculous. It is very easy to say, "I was in NY and also wanted you to meet one of my other partners." Eric D. FYI, I told Arlene that Neil was going and specified the reason and she's is of course all out of whack. I told her she didn't need to worry, you weren't trying to sell Dan anything but while you were touching base you also wanted to gather intel on how they do research and you thought it would be good to have Neil there. She asked me to ask you to reconsider and go alone. She said, it is OK if Neil went with you AND her, but she doesn't want him going without her there. I, of course, don't necessarily agree, just passing on the message so that I can say I passed on her concerns. We're good with Dan - I mean they just decided to hire Chuck and Mike - I don't see why it should be a problem other than that she is feeling threatened that Neil might somehow develop a relationship with Dan or undermine her authority if she is not there. If you feel weird about it Neil wouldn't be offended, but seems a little silly to me. Eric D.
