Subject: Special Employee Advisory - A Message from DJ Stadtler - Leadership Update - Polly Hanson


Dear colleagues,


Amtrak Chief of Police Polly Hanson has elected to retire from the company, effective immediately.


Chief Hanson has served in this role since December 2012, when she joined the company after building a 30-year law enforcement career in the Washington, D.C. area. During her time with us, Chief Hanson led the Amtrak Police Department, and coordinated closely with local, state and federal agencies to ensure the safety and security of our passengers, employees and property. Please join me in thanking Chief Hanson for her service to Amtrak.


With Chief Hanson's retirement, we will be initiating a search for a permanent replacement in the near future. In the meantime, Deputy Chief Neil Trugman will serve as Interim Chief of Police, and report to me. I ask that you join me in supporting Interim Chief Trugman in this temporary assignment.


As always, the Amtrak Police Department's sole focus and commitment remains the safety and security of Amtrak's customers and employees.
