This summer issue of the alumni e-newsletter brings news from the Law School and information about career resources and upcoming events especially for alumni. Yale Law School News ** Commencement 2010 ** <http://www.law.yale.edu/news/11680.htm> A new class joined the ranks of Yale Law School alumni during Commencement exercises held May 24 in the Law School's Courtyard. In all, 222 degrees were conferred during this year's Commencement. Sterling Professor Emeritus of Law Guido Calabresi '58 officially presented Dean Robert Post '77 with the traditional maces, signifying his new deanship of the Law School. Clinical Professor of Law and Supervising Attorney Brett Dignam served as Commencement speaker and urged the graduates to periodically re-examine their lives and to strive to remain grounded. "Are you living your life, your professional life, in a way that reflects your core beliefs? If you are, revel in that. If you are not, make a change," she said. Peter Schuck, the Simeon E. Baldwin Professor Emeritus of Law, and Margaret H. Marshall '76, Chief Justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, also addressed the graduates. Photos and a video of Commencement 2010 are now available on the YLS website <http://www.law.yale.edu/news/11680.htm>. ** Education Adequacy Project Wins Major Victory ** The Education Adequacy Project <http://www.law.yale.edu/academics/educationadequacyclinic.htm> at Yale Law School won a major victory in the Connecticut Supreme Court in March when the Court ruled in favor of the Connecticut Coalition for Justice in Education Funding in the case, _CCJEF v. Rell_. CCJEF, represented by Yale Law students, asserted in a complaint back in 2005 that the state's failure to adequately and equitably fund public schools had irreparably harmed thousands of schoolchildren. In oral arguments before the Court almost two years ago, clinic members, including YLS students David Noah '09 and Neil Weare '08, said Connecticut students had the right to, not just an education, but an adequate one. | Article <http://www.law.yale.edu/news/11470.htm> | ** YLS Students Team with Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center to Aid Haitian Refugees ** <http://www.law.yale.edu/news/11481.htm>With financial support from the Law School, six Yale Law School students spent their spring break at the Broward Transitional Center north of Miami conducting interviews with Haitian earthquake refugees, tracking down potential sponsors in the United States, and drafting letters to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers requesting that the refugees be released from detention. | Article <http://www.law.yale.edu/news/11481.htm> | ** Yale Law Alumnithe Official LinkedIn Group for YLS Grads ** <http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=2600898>The Law School has recently created an official group for Yale Law School alumni on LinkedIn <http://www.linkedin.com/groups?home=&gid=2600898>.
