Bidens to host reporters at 'Biden Beach Boardwalk' party

Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, will host Washington reporters at the Naval Observatory on Saturday for a "Biden Beach Boardwalk" party, designed, according to the cheerful invitation, to "kick off summer 2010."

Select members of the 4th Estate are invited to bring a guest to the 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. affair, and the invitations are strictly non-transferable.

The vice president's residence at the Naval Observatory is a rambling white house with a large lawn, perfect for warm weather entertaining.

It is frequently used to host events that are less formal than White House receptions; recently, Biden hosted a lunch for visiting world leaders at the nuclear security summit.
