Below is the text of a letter sent last week to students:
Dear Students,
I am writing to remind you that the exam schedule must be followed as published in Sidwell Friends all-School calendar. All exams start at 8:30 AM…. Afternoon exams for students doubling up in language, science or math, will start at 12:30 PM.
Please call the Dean of Students Office (202) 537-8160, if you are sick or running late to school during exam week.
* If you are doubling up in any subject matter, you must take two exams on the very day that subject matter exam is scheduled.
* If you should make-up an exam due to illness and/ or unusual circumstances, please contact your Academic Dean.
* Any deviation from the master schedule of exams must be approved by your Academic Dean. .
If you have questions or concerns about the June exams schedule and/or protocols, please email me or stop by my office.

SFS is still seeking host families for next year’s exchange students from Ramallah and China. To date, only one family has come forward (to host the girl from Beijing in the fall), so we still desperately need host families for fall and spring for the boy from Ramallah Friends School entering the 10th grade, and the boy from Shanghai entering the 11th grade. We hope to find families from the Upper School who host for one semester, but we welcome interest from families with students in Middle School, and from families who would prefer to host for the year or for shorter periods, whether two-three months or just an occasional weekend.
Without host families these exchange programs will not be able to continue.

Looking to volunteer in a coffee house setting? Your search has ended! The Fox Den, located on the Wisconsin Avenue campus, is currently looking for parent volunteers to help out for the 2010-2011 school year. If you enjoy a coffee shop/clothing store atmosphere and a chance to interact with high school and middle school students, this is the place for you. Kenworthy Building will be permanently closing.
All Kenworthy Gym lockers will need to be cleaned out by June 9. Any remaining items will be removed and donated to charity.
There will be NO ACCESS to the Kenworthy building after June 10 due to construction.

Rent the Turf Athletic Field
The Auxiliary Programs Office is please to begin renting the turf athletic field on the Wisconsin Avenue Campus. We will begin renting the field on a pilot basis, Sundays as of September 12th. Priority will be given to current Sidwell families, Alumni, and faculty/staff. PA Announcements

PLAS Collection
On Monday, May 24, 2010, the Parents of Latino Students (PLAS) organized the US Collection program on the topic of the new and controversial immigration law in Arizona . Sidwell parent Felix Sanchez , Chairman and Co-founder of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA) and Sidwell graduate, Pablo Riojas ’07, now a rising Brown University senior, presented an informational assembly for US students. As you know, the issue of migration is not just a border concern, but one that impacts us the DC metropolitan area and the nation-at-large. Our thanks to Felix and Pablo for taking the time to organize this effort.
Last Call for PA Reimbursement Requests!
If you have spent money on behalf of the Parents Association this year, please note that the last date to submit receipts for reimbursement will be Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Please check with PA Division Clerks or PA Presidents to verify your budget. Note that original receipts only will be accepted and downloadable forms must be signed by the Clerks or Presidents. You can mail completed paperwork to them, or place it in the PA box in your division or at Zartman House – just confirm that it has been received. For more on PA Financial Procedures, click here.
