11/08/2016 07:58 AM EDT By Heather Caygle (hcaygle@politico.com or @heatherscope) With assistance from Daniel Lippman WE MADE IT- Happy Election Day Huddle readers! This time tomorrow morning we're likely to know the answers to a whole host of questions including: Will Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump be president? Will Republicans or Democrats control the Senate? How many seats do Republicans lose in the House? How many House seats do Democrats pick up? What does that mean for Paul Ryan and Nancy Pelosi? In the meantime, don't forget to vote! WHERE IN THE WORLD... House Speaker Paul Ryan will be hosting and speaking at an election night party in Janesville. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi will be in Washington, holding a press event with DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján this afternoon. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will be in Bakersfield, voting with his family during the day and watching returns with volunteers in the evening. House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer will be visiting polls in his district all day and attending Maryland watch parties, including for Senate candidate Chris Van Hollen, in the evening. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will be in Washington but is not holding any press events. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid will also be in Washington. Sen. John Thune will be in Sioux Falls. Sen. Chuck Schumer will be speaking at the Javits Center in New York City (where Hillary Clinton is holding her campaign party) after polls close. Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin will be in Illinois campaigning with Tammy Duckworth. HOW TO WATCH ELECTION DAY LIKE A PRO- Wondering how to keep up with all the action today/tonight? Don't worry, our in-house experts break it down, starting from 6 a.m. this morning on through 1 a.m. tomorrow, when polls close in Alaska. Polls close statewide in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vermont and Virginia at 7 p.m.; Polls in North Carolina and Ohio close at 7:30 p.m.; and then 8 p.m. is the big enchilada, when polls close in 17 states including key places like New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Florida. Jake and Rachael from Racine, Wisconsin: "'I feel very good where I am,' Ryan said to a small group of reporters here after a speech to roughly 30 local Republicans alongside Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). 'I've gotten such a great outpouring of support from members.'" Kyle and Katie with the five early voting trends they've found: 1. A Latino surge; 2. An uptick in unaffiliateds; 3. Republicans coming home; 4. Women dominating; and 5. 2012 déja vu. Welcome to Tuesday, Nov. 8. Go vote! Thanks for reading POLITICO's Huddle, the play-by-play guide to all things Capitol Hill. Download the pass here: politico.com/politico-transition-tracker MONDAY'S MOST CLICKED- You guys really loved the picture of Sen. Richard Burr frying up his own fish. TODAY IN CONGRESS- The House and Senate are out. (Duh.) COMING TOMORROW- House GOP leaders have scheduled a 1 p.m. call with members Wednesday. "A top Republican aide said the call will be a chance for leaders to take the temperature of members after a bruising election season. Republican insiders expect to lose about a dozen seats, but others say the losses could total as many as 20 seats," Jake and Rachael again: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=71d05412be47efcf4ba4016c3bb020f99af8e863685e3d68ab68e654326cf9af HOUSE DEMS BRACE FOR COMEY FALLOUT- Top Democrats are all but ruling out any (already longshot) chance of taking back the House, saying FBI Director James Comey's recent actions derailed their hopes of reclaiming the chamber. "Republicans were coming home anyway, but a couple of points nationwide has an impact on our races," Pelosi told lawmakers on a Monday afternoon caucus call. Before the Comey letter, Pelosi had been saying she thought Dems could pick up at least 20 seats if things kept going their way with other Democrats making bullish predictions about a Trump-related wave giving them back the gavel. Now aides predict Democrats could lose up to a dozen seats they were originally hoping to pick up due to the FBI news. Edgar Hoover. I think he has personally put a black mark on the FBI that will never go away," outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid told Burgess. "I made a mistake [confirming him]. Because I didn't know he was such a Republican." But he won't call on Comey to resign, "declaring that because Reid is retiring he will 'let some of my other colleagues say that.'" Marco Rubio "defended FBI Director James Comey on Monday, saying that he 'did not do anything inappropriate.'" Send me your predictions: hcaygle@politico.com. Whoever's closest gets a shout-out in tomorrow's Huddle SOMETIMES GOOD CANDIDATES JUST DON'T WIN- Just ask two candidates who operatives on both sides say ran great races this cycle--Missouri Democrat Jason Kander and incumbent GOP Sen. Pat Toomey--if they aren't successful today. "Both Toomey and Kander head into Tuesday as 50-50 bets, and some of the same smart people who praise their campaigns wouldn't be surprised to see both lose," reports Paul Kane for the Washington Post. "Taken together, these two Senate races will do more than just help determine which party claims the majority. They will also show whether it's possible, in this hyper-partisan era, for quality campaigns and candidates to overcome tough political geography. It's the political version of the head versus the heart." But Shane Goldmacher has a great inside look at several of the staffers who made it all happen, the "mountain of men and women who are, in many ways, the real warriors of 2016, people who have sacrificed, suffered and put their lives on hold in service of a cause or candidate that they believe is bigger than themselves." For example, Bruce Redden, Sen. Ted Cruz's bodyman, who got married one month before the Iowa caucuses; Stephanie Grisham, a Trump press aide who's away from her young son for months at a time; and Clinton aides Tyrone Gayle and Jesse Ferguson, who were both diagnosed with cancer during the campaign. PERDUE TALKS SUPREME COURT: #BACKTOWORK- Sen. David Perdue had strong words Monday for his GOP colleagues who plan to back a blanket blockade of any Supreme Court nominees should Clinton win the White House: "'I hear what's being said about that, but I think that's a dereliction of duty. We're called to advise and consent. We can say no, but that means you have a hearing,' Perdue, a conservative Republican who serves on the Judiciary Committee, told reporters in the Capitol on Monday." Burgess: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=71d05412be47efcf4ec8a4d41149555c6d847ea786c77e832cb0d1d4bcc01524 DROP ME A LINE, WILL YA? Many lawmakers are already looking ahead to the lame duck, when Congress will have to find some way to keep the government funded past Dec. 9. "Lawmakers are sending urgent missives to their colleagues, seeking budget boosts for their pet policy projects ahead of tough government funding negotiations in the lame-duck session that begins next Monday," Ben Weyl reports. What's on the wish list? Anything and everything: "The 'Dear Colleague' requests, as they are known on Capitol Hill, run from assisting U.S. dairy farmers and expanding global nutrition aid to increasing funding for NASA's aeronautics research and the National Institutes of Health. ... And while Congress may be on recess, the time to get a word in is now: Aides on the House and Senate Appropriations committees have been working for weeks to draft spending bills that could move quickly after Election Day." BuzzFeed: "'If Hillary is elected president, the House of Representatives - particularly the Judiciary Committee working in conjunction with Government Reform Committee -will have to go back and comb through all of this and investigate the investigation and the investigators and Hillary Clinton,' [Iowa Rep. Steve] King told Newsmax's Steve Malzburg." Bonnie Watson Coleman later this week for a new gig as senior media relations manager for the American Diabetes Association. MONDAY'S TRIVIA WINNER- Jeremy Berkowitz was the first the correctly guess that the last time a National League team won Game 7 during the World Series in an election year was 1964, with the St. Louis Cardinals. And LBJ won the presidency. TODAY'S TRIVIA- Jeremy with today's trivia: Playing off of Monday's question, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the New York Yankees in the '64 World Series. One member of that Yankee team later ran for Congress. 1) Who was the player and what position did he play. 2) When did he run for Congress and from what state?
