I’m Noah and I get to look after Acorns as CEO. This year, we
welcomed 115 new team members and more than 1,700,000 new
investors to the Acorns family, bringing our headcount to 259 and
our community to 4.5M. Thank you for the opportunity to help each
of us reach our unlimited potential! It is our goal to put the
tools of wealth-making into everyone’s hands. This year, we added
new tools and learned invaluable lessons along the way, and I’ll
share some of them. But first, a note on the most important tools
in the face of a bumpy market — confidence and calm.

It is our goal to put the tools of wealth-making into everyone’s
hands. This year, we added new tools and learned invaluable
lessons along the way, and I’ll share some of them. But first, a
note on the most important tools in the face of a bumpy market —
confidence and calm.

When markets go up, I invest. When the markets go down, I take a
deep breath, tune out the news and invest even more. It sounds
counterintuitive but it’s not - prices are lower and every
downturn in history has ended in an upturn so I want in! My
parents withdrew their investments twice in reaction to market
drops. They’d be the first to tell you — if they’d stuck it out,
they’d likely have substantially more today. I know personally
and from history, sticking with it gives your money a chance to
bounce back and grow.

When we encourage you to stick with it, it’s not just because we
want you to stick with us — of course we do, but more than that,
we want you to win. Reacting in fear is accepting a guaranteed
loss. Tune out the hype and remember, investing is a long game.
Have confidence in your long-term plan, be calm and stay the
course.

Now, a look back. How we grew We took on a lot in 2018.
* We launched Acorns Later, our retirement account. Today more
than 300,000 of you have set yourselves up for a better life
later.
* In June, we opened pre-orders for Acorns Spend, the first
checking account with a debit card that saves and invests for
you. Acorns Spend pre-orders have surpassed 300,000 and I can’t
wait to see you swiping that heavy, Acorns tungsten green card to
spend smarter!
* To make it easier to access each part of the Acorns system, we
redesigned the app.
* Through Found Money, you earned more than $3,800,000 for your
future from 300+ brands, and there were more than 9,000,000 views
of Grow Your Knowledge content.
* You invited more than 320,000 friends to join Acorns through
our referral program and earned money for your future each time.
What we learned With all of the growth came some
bumps and I want to be transparent about them. * We
upgraded several backend systems to work better for you, but this
evolution created short-term technical friction for some
customers. We’ve learned how to prevent that.
* In our redesign, we focused on the new stuff but not enough on
our foundation, like Round-Ups. You reminded us, so we’re
refining the experience to bring your favorite features back,
like the Round-Ups screen.
* We delivered beta Acorns Visa debit cards to over 15,000
customers and learned a lot. Incorporating that feedback is the
right thing to do, but some of you will have to wait a little
longer for your cards. We’re grateful for your understanding and
working tirelessly to deliver an even stronger product!
Goals All in all, 2018 was a year of tremendous
productivity, passion — and a year of learning. To advance our
mission of looking after the financial best interests of the
up-and-coming, here are three of my 2019 goals: * Stay
focused on perfecting your Acorns experience and helping you
stick with it through every market condition. This is my greatest
hope for you.
* Continue to build our team with the best people to uplift you
towards your unlimited potential.
* Connect even more with you. You remind me why it’s such an
honor to do this work.
