Team - Our game is scheduled for 3:00 this Sunday. We have 8 confirmed
(Hannah and Lindy are out) and I would like to have at least one more sub
for this game. So if any of you or your daughters can find a player to join
in, please let me know ASAP. I have asked several members of our fall team,
but all have conflicts so far.
Please remember to wear cleats this week and arrive by 2:45ish.
Thanks.

Club Pink Indoor Parents ("CPIPs") - Our game this weekend against the other
Bethesda Lacrosse team will be at 3:00 again on the same field (turf 2). I
suggest the girls wear their cleats. Sneakers will slip. I expected another
2 players last week, and hope we have more subs this week. If not, I have a
list of girls who want to play as subs. SO PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS EMAIL AS
TO WHETHER YOUR DAUGHTER WILL BE THERE! The sooner I know how many will be
showing, the sooner I can call up a sub if necessary.
While our throwing and catching was a little rusty to start (the lighting
takes time to get used to) we played hard and well on Sunday against an
older team. The game was more physical than it should have been. I have
spoken to Champions about the referee to make sure they are adhering to the
proper guidelines while calling a game. There were numerous missed calls,
which was frustrating and I consider dangerous. This morning Corey told me
she will talk to the refs and remind them that we are middle school players
(not high school) and to call it tighter.
Another reason for the physical nature of that game was that we carried the
ball more than we should. In the indoor game, more than outdoor, quick short
passes create the best opportunities for success. So we will work on keeping
spacing between players and making passes more quickly after receiving the
ball. The girls know our Circle Drill. That is what we are trying to achieve
here. As I said in an earlier email, playing indoor will refine stick skills
faster than anything else. The ball will move quickly and frequently. I
believe that indoor will develop individual skills faster than playing
outdoor lacrosse. And there is a lot more shooting (which is fun)!
That being said, our girls played very tough. The intensity level was good
and we fought for the GB's. On defense, we forced several turnovers by
forcing the player to change direction and switch hands. Isabella was very,
very strong in goal which kept us in the game.
Please let me know if you have any questions/comments. See you Sunday!
Thanks.
