Hi Hallie and Hunter,

Hope you're enjoying the holiday season. I'm excited to share some news and a fun invitation. One of my best friends from Georgetown who is a well-known comedian, Jim Gaffigan, and I are working on a fantastic fundraiser for the university: Stand Up For Georgetown on Monday, January 14th at Howard Gilman Opera House at Brooklyn Academy of Music. All funds benefit the Georgetown Scholarship Program which is a support system for first generation students. Georgetown has a 96% graduation rate versus the national graduation rate of 30% for the same population.

Jim got two other alumni comedians to perform with him - John Mulaney (who recently won an Emmy) and Mike Birbiglia (currently has a show on Broadway). General tickets sold out at the box office within 40 minutes!! The response has been incredible and overwhelming. So far, we have raised over $1.2MM and we will definitely net over $1MM. The Gilman Opera House holds 2100 people so it's going to be a full, amazing evening with lots of laughter and joy.

As there are Hoyas and Hoya parents in your family, I would like to invite you as my guests. Aunt Val and Missy/Rod are coming. Father Leo O'Donovan will also be joining. All the university leaders will be there, including Jack DeGioia and his family.

I plan to invite Josh and Patty. Last year the three of us had discussed a possible comedy night fundraiser for BBF at some point in the future. This event could give them some ideas.

I'll be coordinating final ticketing and seating tomorrow morning with the event planner and GU. Please let me know if you'd like to join on January 14th. I have leeway now but after tomorrow it will be challenging because there are very long waiting lists and alums/donors are using every contact they have at GU to get tickets.
