MISSOURI DEJA VU - "'She's a lucky duck': GOP implodes again for McCaskill" by Campaign Pro's Daniel Strauss: "Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill is up for reelection. And like clockwork, the Republican Party of Missouri is in complete turmoil again. McCaskill won a second term term in 2012 when GOP Rep. Todd Akin's campaign imploded in the wake of his comments about 'legitimate rape.' Now, Republicans worry GOP Gov. Eric Greitens' mounting scandals will inundate McCaskill's likely Republican opponent, state Attorney General Josh Hawley, and bestow another term on one of the most endangered incumbent senators in the country. ... 'I'm going to start having Claire McCaskill buy my lottery
tickets. She's a lucky duck,' quipped former Missouri Republican Party Chairman John Hancock, adding: 'The bottom line is Eric Greitens is dividing the Republican Party in Missouri and he doesn't care.'" Full story.

- "New poll puts Missouri Gov. Greitens' approval rating at 37 percent" by The Kansas City Star's Rick Montgomery: "Fifty-one percent of Missourians disapprove of embattled Gov. Eric Greitens' job performance, according to a new poll, and he maintains a 37 percent approval rating. The survey released Saturday by the Missouri Scout news service showed support for the governor riding along party lines: 57 percent of Republicans approve of the job Greitens is doing, while only 12 percent of Democrats approve." ROMNEY RUN - "Romney falls short in Utah GOP convention, forced into primary for Senate seat" by POLITICO's Alex Isenstadt: "Utah Senate hopeful Mitt Romney was narrowly defeated at Saturday's state GOP convention and will be forced into a June primary, a setback in his political comeback bid. Romney, who was the 2012 GOP presidential nominee, is still heavily favored to win the seat from which longtime Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch is retiring. But on Saturday, his path became slightly more complicated when he fell short at the convention to state Rep. Mike Kennedy. According to The Associated Press, Romney received 49 percent to Kennedy's 51 percent." Full story.

FIRST IN SCORE - WEB WARS - House Majority PAC launches digital ads in three House districts: House Majority PAC is going after Republican incumbents in three districts, attacking them for "having enabled Paul Ryan and his disastrous economic agenda against the middle class," per a memo from the group. The ads target GOP Reps. Kevin Yoder, Andy Barr and Bruce Poliquin for supporting Ryan's "toxic agenda" that "destroy[s] the middle class" by giving "Ryan's wealthy friends a massive tax cut." FIRST IN SCORE - GETTING THE NOD - Everytown backs Lucy McBath in GA-06: Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund is wading into its first Democratic primary, announcing on Monday that the group is endorsing Democrat Lucy McBath, who's running in a contested primary to take on Republican Rep. Karen Handel. The group is also launching a $200,000 digital ad and mail program effort to boost McBath ahead of her May primary. McBath's son was killed in a Florida shooting in 2012 when his killer said the music playing in the car was "too loud."

DEMS IN ... - "Fearing Chaos, National Democrats Plunge Into Midterm Primary Fights" By The New York Times' Alexander Burns: "With their forceful intervention in Orange County, national Democrats have lunged into an impatient new phase of the 2018 primary season - one in which they are clashing more openly with candidates and local political chieftains in their drive to assemble a slate of recruits for the midterms. In districts from Southern California to Little Rock, Ark., and upstate New York, the party has begun interceding to help the Democrats it sees as best equipped to battle Republicans in the fall. ... National Democrats may also intervene in the Southern California districts held
by Representatives Dana Rohrabacher and Jeff Denham, where multiple Republicans and Democrats are running, and in the seat held by Representative Darrell Issa, a Republican who is retiring. Voters receive mail-in ballots starting in early May, making the next few weeks exceptionally important." Full story.

2020 WATCH - "Black voters warn Democrats with 2020 ambitions about taking them for granted" by The Washington Post's Dave Weigel: "Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren condemned housing laws that 'targeted communities of color.' New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker focused on the injustice of climate change. California Sen. Kamala D. Harris railed against the Education Department as hostile to affirmative action. Potential 2020 presidential candidates addressed the Rev. Al Sharpton's National Action Network convention this week, tailoring their pitch to black voters who complain that Democrats have taken their support for granted and pressed for more from the party.

"On Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D), another potential candidate for president, used the conference to announce that he would restore voting rights to felons on parole, potentially affecting 35,000 people. On Friday, in Washington, Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) introduced legislation that would decriminalize marijuana, saying that it would allow 'minority-owned business to have a fair shot in the marijuana industry.'" Full story.

- "Bernie Sanders Says 'Trump's Agenda Is Dead' if Democrats Win Midterms" by The New York Times' Elizabeth Dias and Shane Goldmacher: "Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, vowing to play an influential role in the 2018 midterm elections, was blunt on Friday about the stakes for the Democratic Party. 'If Democrats control either the House or the Senate, Trump's agenda is dead,' Mr. Sanders said during a conversation with New York Times reporters and editors." Full story.

MEANWHILE IN CONGRESS - "Clyburn urges full leadership shakeup If Democrats fail to retake House" by POLITICO's David Siders: "Rep. Jim Clyburn, one of House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's top lieutenants, said Friday that if Democrats fail to retake the House in November, the party's entire House leadership team should step down. 'If we're still in the minority' after Election Day, he told POLITICO following his annual fish fry here, 'all of us have got to go.' ...Clyburn, the assistant minority leader and the highest ranking African-American in Congress, referred repeatedly to [Rep. Tim] Ryan as a 'good friend' and a favorite drinking partner in Washington. A glass of Jack Daniel's in
hand at the fish fry, a mainstay on the Democratic Party circuit, Clyburn said he did not take Ryan's leadership challenge personally, adding, 'I understand exactly what he was saying.'" Full story.

CAMPAIGN RULES - "Retiring Sen. Bob Corker won't campaign against Democrat vying for his seat" by The Washington Post's Weigel: "Retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) offered faint praise on Sunday for the Republican likely to win the nomination to replace him, telling interviewers on two Sunday talk shows that his party was making trouble by questioning his loyalty. 'It's the most ridiculous thing I've seen politically in recent times, but apparently they want you to ask me about the Tennessee race,' Corker said on ABC News' 'This Week with George Stephanopoulos.' ...

"The Washington Post first reported on tensions between Corker and fellow Republicans. On Wednesday, Corker praised [Democrat Phil] Bredesen, a two-term governor whose tenure overlapped with Corker's first term, as 'a very good mayor, a very good governor, a very good business person.' Hours later, President Trump called Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R) to reiterate his support for her in the race, and McConnell confronted Corker to say that his remarks had been unhelpful." Full story.
