Speaker Paul Ryan said in an interview Wednesday that he won't run for public office again after he leaves Congress next year.

During a conversation in his office on the day he told his colleagues he was retiring, Ryan reflected on his relationship with President Donald Trump, and noted he wished the president tweeted less, but said he has developed a good rapport with the commander-in-chief.

"It works better to have private conversations than public disputes," Ryan said.
