Dear Hunter and Kathleen,

I'm writing to give you a heads-up about a really important survey coming your
way. For the first time ever, through the Catholic Volunteer Network (CVN), of
which JVC Northwest is a member, we are doing a broad-based study of the impact
of full-time volunteer work on people's lives after engaging in service.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here's the deal: CVN got a grant to do this on a very broad level, surveying the
"alumni" of their member organizations. They have contracted with the Center for
Applied Research in the Apostolate, CARA - a research institute affiliated with
Georgetown University, in Washington, DC - to design and carry out the study. They
will soon be sending you an invitation to participate in the survey. We are certain
the confidentiality of our list will be respected, as part of the signed agreement
with CARA is that they will use data from CVN members ONLY for this research project.
Once the data is gathered from all of the participating volunteer programs, JVC
Northwest can commission CARA researchers to prepare a specific analysis and report
on our program and volunteers.We hope to document the impact of our FJVs and back
it up with research from a nationally renowned research institute!

So, I'm writing to ask you to please take the time to respond to the survey, which
you'll receive by email in a few days. It will most likely have the name of the
institute or the acronym CARA in the "from" line.
