Hunter- I hope you have been well. I also hope that your dad runs in 2020. The country needs him!!! I know that he and Harold have been talking and that he will be speaking at the Fire Fighters Legislative Conference next month. I am looking forward to his speech and seeing him I just finished reading Promise Me, Dad. The book was very riveting and impactful. It is really a story of family, love and strength. Your eulogy for Beau caused me to shed a tear and that never occurs The love, support and giving that your whole family displayed during what had to be a terribly traumatic time is extraordinary Your dad was so gracious to me when my own mother passed in 2011. Him reaching out was a source of strength for me. I had no idea what Promise me, Dad was about when I picked it up. Ironically, I could not have read it at a better time My own father is on death’s door He’s 86 and has had a great run. Forty years in the Baltimore FD—the last 13 as Chief/Commissioner—-and a lengthy, enjoyable retirement. So, the lord has been good to him. But, I am selfish. He is my best friend and was the best man in my wedding and I don’t want to lose him Reading how you and the VPOTUS acted with grace and dignity throughout Beau’s ordeal and persevered after his passing is really inspirational It will give me great solace and strength when dad passes My contact information for you dad no longer works. Please pass this message onto him. He has always been wonderful to me, personally, and fire fighters everywhere I really can’t convey the impact the book has had on me Tell him thank you!!!!!
