An Important Message Regarding Telephone Scams

At M&T, we're committed to helping you stay informed of current fraud scenarios so you can better protect yourself and your personal information.*

One type of fraud that's on the rise is a Caller ID Scam called "neighbor spoofing." This is when fraudsters fake caller ID numbers. If your phone rings and it looks like a local call, you may be more likely to answer, thinking it may be a neighbor, the school nurse - or even your local bank branch.

If you see a number like this on your caller ID, we recommend these tips:
- Remember that it may not be the caller that you think is calling. Letting it go to voicemail is one option
- If you do pick up and don't recognize the caller - hang up
- Hang up the phone if you feel pressured to provide personal information

As a reminder, M&T will never ask you to provide your Social Security number, ATM or debit card PIN or any other sensitive information over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call, text or email from someone claiming to be from M&T, please do not respond. Instead, please call us at 1-800-724-2440, Monday through Friday, 6am-9pm and Saturday and Sunday, 9am-5pm.
