My thoughts on the State of the Union, for those who are interested:

A true about face for this economy cannot be accomplished in the fashion championed by Republicans. Deregulation and record deficits are the lasting footprint of the GOP. While none of us are riding pink clouds of wealth inflation (that consistently distracted us, throughout the Bush Administration's bubble-manafucturing machine), we are moving forward with fundamental change and steady economic growth. I prefer long-term, sound economic policy over the immediate gratification of baseless spikes and harsh drops.

An America without the type of Social Justice President Obama has fought for against the louder voices of Corporate Interests, is not in keeping with our history. We must never go back- no matter how tough times get; no matter how afraid or insecure we become - to the post-9/11 mentality of isolationism, false patriotism (nationalism), and willful neglect of perverted capitalism.

It is my hope that the malaise of our Bush Era hangover has begun to lift and that our eyes are opening to the double-jeopardy being inflicted by a spiteful GOP (in Congress and State Governments, across the U.S.) on average americans.

The Republican nominee is irrelevant- they had a blank check to push their ideologies to the brink, and that is exactly where they left us. I lost my job a week after President Obama was sworn into office. Am I wrong to keep thinking back to the bottom and associating it with Republican policies? We cover centuries of European History in mere chapters of our text books. Even with the staggering speed of information-sharing and global communication, we cannot expect the Second Depression to be fixed in four years (I say this knowing many expected it to be fixed in four months- but I attribute that to the bubble mentality we grew accustomed to from 2000-2008). Nevertheless, the road to recovery is well underway and we must stay the course to see sustainable repairs.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to me. I'm not perfect but I feel that I have battled the Bush legacy one day at a time, with incremental improvements in my financial/ professional situation while maintaining compassion for those who continue to find themselves in despair. None of us will ever forget 9/11. We must never forget the fall of 2008.
