Dear Friend,
For those of you who have already donated, thank you very much. For those of you
who have not yet, there is still time to help! Read on.
When a 7.0 magnitude earthquake rocked the nation of Haiti in January, 2010, an
estimated 316,000 people were killed. One million surviving citizens, many of them
children, of a steeply impoverished nation found themselves homeless. Three years
later, many families remain without homes, jobs, and necessary food and medical
supplies.
In just a few weeks, I will travel to Haiti to help the recovering nation's population.
I will be traveling with my friend Jake and his mother, Lauren, an expert in yoga
therapy. While Lauren will work with school children, Jake and I will be working
with Partners In Development to build a home for a family we will meet upon arrival.
Many families have lived in tent camps (see top right photo) for nearly 3 years,
since the earthquake. When we made the decision to go to Haiti, Jake and I did
so with the comfort that we have known each other for 15 years. Working together
to help others is an experience we look forward to sharing.
In order to help Partners In Development cover the costs of our program, we are
planning to raise money for our plane tickets, room, and board. Any excess contributions
will be donated to Partners In Development for future programs.
We hope to raise three thousand dollars, the total cost of the trip for Jake and
me. Any donation will help. Please include your email address with donations
