About the Featured Speakers:

Dave Olander came to Capitol Hill right out of college 17 years ago and rose steadily through the ranks to principal tax policy adviser to the majority on the House’s tax-writing committee. In 2011, Mr. Olander helped shepherd into law repeals of the 1099 tax reporting requirement and a requirement that government agencies withhold taxes from payments to contractors.

In February 2011, Mike Hauswirth joined the Democratic staff of the Committee on Ways and Means as tax counsel. Before joining the Ways and Means staff, Mr. Hauswirth spent three years working for the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation as legislative counsel. While working for the Joint Committee, Mr. Hauswirth worked on several major pieces of tax legislation, including the TARP, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the HIRE Act. Immediately prior to joining the staff of the Joint Committee, Mr. Hauswirth was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
