Dear Parents,

Here are several additional calendar announcements for the coming week:


· All School Notice

Head of School, Tom Farquhar, will be hosting a parent meeting about campus security at the Bethesda Meeting House on Tuesday, January 29th, from 7- 8:30 p.m.

· From the 7/8 Dance Committee


Next Friday, February 1st there will be a 7/8 dance in the Upper School Dining Hall from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. It will have a Super Bowl theme, so dressing in the colors of your favorite NFL team is encouraged (but optional). We hope all the kids will come and join the fun. Also, we are looking for parent volunteers to help decorate the dining hall that afternoon starting at 3:00. If any parents are interested in volunteering during the dance to help serve snacks, that would also be appreciated; and, of course, we will need a few extra hands to help clean up afterwards. This year’s all day, school-wide arts event, “Art Can,” will be held Sunday, January 27 from 1 to 4 pm!

There is a wide array of wonderful arts activities planned, from student musical performances in three different settings, to a fantastic collection of arts and crafts stations, including print-making, community mural painting and iPad art. We’ll also have a lively Hip Hop center and the ever-popular “Boxopolis!”

Cardboard boxes of all sizes for Boxopolis

Empty aluminum cans for our pencil holder art station.

Canned food (filled) to be used to create “Canopolis” a city mural made of cans of food that will be donated to a food bank afterwards.

Old ties - a perfect opportunity to get rid of those never worn holiday gifts for Dad. They will be “Refashionista-ed” into spectacular new creations!
There are boxes in lobbies of all three schools to accept your donations!

Last but not least, “Art Can” has its own hash tag: #artcan13!

Send jpegs of your child's artwork, or even of their performances. These images will grace the walls of the Meeting House during the festival and provide the perfect backdrop for this unique event.
