Given their 34-seat majority, Republicans have limited opportunities for offense this cycle, but these seven candidates have met specific benchmarks outlined by the committee for building their campaign apparatuses. The seven candidates are: Lee Zeldin, challenging incumbent Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop in NY-01; Carlos Curbelo, running against Democratic Rep. Joe Garcia in FL-26; Ryan Costello, the GOP nominee for retiring Rep. Jim Gerlach's seat in PA-06; Torrey Westrom, the candidate facing Democratic Rep. Collin Peterson in MN-07; Pedro Celis, running against Democratic Rep. Suzan DelBene in WA-01; Jeff Gorell, challenging Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley in CA-26; and Dan Debicella, running against Democratic Rep. Jim Himes in CT-04. The news comes a day after the NRCC added two incumbent GOP Reps.-David Jolly in FL-13 and Tim Walberg in MI-07 - to its incumbent protection program. KINGSTON AD TALKS WELFARE: Campaign Pros saw it first: Georgia Rep. Jack Kingston, one of the many candidates in the crowded GOP Senate primary, is out with his fourth TV ad: a spot that talks about his own background and his position on welfare. "On Georgia roads like this, I drove thousands of miles selling business insurance. I helped grow a small company into one that employed over 500 people," Kingston says. "Hard work built our economy but today too many choose a hand out rather than a hand up. That's why my plan requires able-bodied adults on welfare and food stamps to work for their benefits. It's good for them and for taxpayers." The buy is for mid-six figures and will run statewide. Kingston, who came in second in two most recent polls of the race, raised $1.1 million in the first quarter of this year, meaning he'll be better able than some of his GOP opponents to consistently stay on the air between now and the May 20 primary. HILLARY CLINTON STRUGGLES TO DEFINE A LEGACY IN PROGRESS: The New York Times reports: "Mrs. Clinton played an energetic role in virtually every foreign policy issue of President Obama's first term, advocating generally hawkish views internally while using her celebrity to try to restore America's global standing after the hit it took during the George W. Bush administration. ... [But] much of what she labored over so conscientiously is either unfinished business or has gone awry in his second term. ... On the one hand, she wants credit for the parts of Mr. Obama's foreign policy that have worked, like the pressure campaign against Iran over its nuclear program, which she helped orchestrate and which has pulled Iran to the bargaining table. On the other, she is subtly distancing herself from the things that have not worked out, like Mr. Obama's 'reset' of relations with Russia. She recently likened President Vladimir V. Putin's annexation of Crimea to actions by Hitler in the 1930s, and posted on Twitter a photograph of herself with members of Pussy Riot, the protest group that is Mr. Putin's nemesis." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1627d1c6c57d928434419233a3e8829c81439f3295d20d810551fe31cce0c1ab http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1627d1c6c57d928434419233a3e8829c81439f3295d20d810551fe31cce0c1ab JENKINS AD HITS RAHALL OVER HOUSE MAJORITY PAC ADS: Republican Evan Jenkins is out with a new ad that begins running today in West Virginia's 3rd District, hitting Democratic incumbent Rep. Nick Rahall over the attack ads run on his behalf by House Majority PAC. "Nick Rahall's attacks on Evan Jenkins? Non-partisan fact-checkers say they're bogus, out-and-out lies, false," the ad says, referring to factual questions about one of HMP's ads. "One ad so wrong TV stations rejected it. Nick Rahall: a lying politician just like Obama." The ad then calls Jenkins "a better choice," saying he "puts West Virginians first, not politics" and will "work with both parties, create jobs." The ad, by the firm DMM Media, is running on cable and broadcast in the district. Ed Pastor's retirement has opened up an opportunity for Arizona Democrats. In a statement, EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock praises Wilcox as "a trailblazer with a long record of public service," and says she has "been a leader on the critical issue of immigration reform." Wilcox faces state Sen. Steve Gallardo and state Rep. Ruben Gallego in the Democratic primary. AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR IN COLORADO: Former GOP Rep. Bob Beauprez made it onto the gubernatorial primary ballot in Colorado, joining former Rep. Tom Tancredo, former state Sen. Mike Kopp and Secretary of State Scott Gessler, The Denver Post reported Wednesday. But about 47 percent of Beauprez's signatures were thrown out, and he cut it very close in two of seven congressional districts. Tancredo also took the signature route to the ballot; click to see the method he deemed 'Pueblo style': http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1627d1c6c57d9284256dc9af11a7f44a1d867dfa81a90b494f7dee633c9d6171 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=1627d1c6c57d9284256dc9af11a7f44a1d867dfa81a90b494f7dee633c9d6171 CODA - QUOTE OF THE DAY: "You don't see pornographers running around talking about their work either.
