Here are some information on the island is was telling you about. It is called Koh Lipe http://www.kohlipethailand.com
, it’s a small island located in the Adang Archipelago, within the Tarutao National Marine Park (South of Thailand near Malaysia). I would advise to avoid the week between X-mas and New Year as it is peak season, and it’s become more touristic lately.
You can reach it either through Kuala Lumpur (via Langkawy) or through Bangkok (via Pak Bara), for both ways you’ll then take a speed boat.
Best place to find an accomodation on the island is Sunrise Beach, which is a 2km white sand less touristic beach with cristal water. That side of the island is optimum for relaxing and snorkelling (a diving centre is also on the beach - half way). I can reccomend these two resorts:

The best way to visit the other islands of the archipelago is to go for daily trips on private “long-tale boats” (traditional local wood boats), the owners will take you every day to different beautiful islands full of very nice corals.
