Dear Hunter, One year ago today, a group of men and women met at Mother Emanuel AME Church to worship and enjoy fellowship with one another. They did not know that the stranger they welcomed to their church that evening with warm smiles and open arms, would gun them down. Last week, we experienced the deadliest mass shooting in our nation's history at a LGBT nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Over 50 people who went out for a night on the town, never made it back home. Gun violence does not discriminate. It exists in every neighborhood, community, city and state. While we may not be able to stop every act of gun violence, we can work hard to make sure that guns don't fall into the hands of people who should never have them. In Congress, I'll fight to pass commonsense gun laws that will make our streets safer and our communities stronger. As a nation, it's time we stand together and say we've had enough.
