Hillary Clinton has won the New Jersey Democratic primary, three networks projected Tuesday evening.

The former secretary of state clinched the Democratic nomination on Monday night after The Associated Press and other outlets projected that she had reached the magic number of 2,383 total delegates after it was determined that she had earned enough superdelegate support.

Clinton received the endorsements of both of the state's Democratic senators, Cory Booker and Robert Menendez, along with a majority of the House Democratic delegation.

Clinton held a double-digit lead over Bernie Sanders in recent polling, including a survey from Quinnipiac University conducted last month that found her with a 14-point advantage, of 54 percent to 40 percent. Another CBS News/YouGov survey conducted between May 31 and Friday showed Clinton with a 27-percent lead of 61 percent to 34 percent.

The former secretary of state spent the majority of the last week campaigning in delegate-rich California, where the race was seen as more competitive. Clinton stumped with Booker and rocker Jon Bon Jovi in Newark last Wednesday before former President Bill Clinton defended his wife against Republican attacks in Cranford.

New Jersey allocates its 126 pledged delegates on a proportional basis, in addition to 16 superdelegates.
